Residential junk removal in Vancouver, WA and Portland, OR

$369 to $549

The catch-all for a house. A room nobody walks through, the pile behind the garage, the boxes that came with the move and never got opened. If your job is not on the specific service list, it is this one.

What we usually find

Most residential junk removal calls in Clark County and the Portland metro are mixed loads: a treadmill, two bed frames and a box of cables from a house in Orchards, or fence boards, a rusted grill and a few bags from a side yard in Hazel Dell. We sort at the truck, and a mixed load is priced by the room it takes up, not the number of pieces.

What it costs

The price is by the fraction of a 16 cubic yard truck, the same in Washington and Oregon. Minimum pickup, 2 cubic yards, $99. 1/4 truck, 4 cubic yards, $189. 1/2 truck, 8 cubic yards, $369. 3/4 truck, 12 cubic yards, $549. Full truck, 16 cubic yards, $739. Book online to keep the lower number.

What pushes a job up a tier is volume, usually the second closet. A single piece has its own price: a TV or monitor $89, a couch $119, a refrigerator $129. Full ladder.

How the visit goes

We arrive in the 2 hour window you picked with the truck, a dolly, bags, a broom and a tarp. You point at what goes; painter’s tape on anything close that stays helps.

No bagging, boxing or dragging it to the driveway. We carry from the room it is in, take bed frames apart if they will not clear the hallway, and sweep.

Where it goes

Donation and recycling first, the transfer station last, tipping fee inside the price.

In Washington, Vancouver, Battle Ground, Ridgefield and Hazel Dell loads go to Central Transfer and Recycling; Camas and Washougal loads to Washougal Transfer Station. TVs, monitors and computers come off first, since E-Cycle Washington takes them at no charge; a refrigerator carries a coolant fee at the station, so it is priced on its own at $129.

In Oregon, Portland and Beaverton loads go to Metro Central Station, Gresham through Oregon City to Metro South. Electronics are free too, up to 7 per trip under Oregon E-Cycles. So a mattress or old desktop in the load is volume only.

Before the station, usable furniture goes to donation, cardboard and scrap metal to recycling, and clean yard debris stays separate for the lower rate.

How it differs from a cleanout

Residential junk removal is a room or a pile. A whole space is a cleanout, on the same ladder.

Garage and storage cleanouts is a packed garage bay, sorted and swept, usually a half truck at $369, or a storage unit, usually a quarter at $189. Estate cleanouts is a whole house, room by room with photos and donation receipts, most homes one to three trucks. Hoarding cleanouts is a home where the pile has taken over the living space, at your pace, unmarked truck on request, typically a full truck at $739 per room. Not sure? Book residential and say so.

Before you book

Can you take a few things from inside and the rest from the driveway? Yes. One load, one price by volume, wherever the pieces sit.

Does rain change anything? We load in the rain. Tarp cardboard the night before; wet cardboard is heavy and takes more room.

Will you take things apart? Bed frames, desks and swing sets, yes, when they will not clear a door. A deck, a fence or a shed is a teardown job.

What we take

  • Whole rooms, basements and attics
  • Closets, crawlspaces and under-stairs
  • Side yard and back fence piles
  • Leftovers after a move or a remodel
  • Kids gear, hobby gear, exercise equipment

Something else in the pile? See everything we take.

What we do not

  • Household chemicals, fuel and propane; those go to a county hazardous waste day
  • Concrete, dirt, rock and roofing, which are quoted by weight instead

Price

By volume: $99 for a 2 cubic yard minimum pickup up to $739 for a full 16 cubic yard truck. Full price list.

Questions

How do I know which size to pick?

Pick by what it would fill in a pickup bed. Two bed loads is about a quarter truck at $189, four is about a half at $369. If you pick small and it turns out bigger, we tell you the new number before we load, and you can stop there.

Do you have to come inside?

Only if the pile is inside. Leave it in the driveway or garage and you do not have to be home; we photograph the load and send the photos with the invoice.
