Two haulers, one appointment, no free pickup
Tigard has been an incorporated city since 1961, but garbage here is split between two franchised haulers, Pride Disposal and Waste Management, each with its own service area. The city’s solid waste page hands bulky item collection straight to whichever one serves your street. There is no free annual pickup and no city cleanup day to wait for.
What you get instead is a paid appointment: the hauler quotes the fee, the pickup day is often not your garbage day, and everything waits at the curb.
A lot of Tigard addresses are not in Tigard at all. Bull Mountain and Metzger are both unincorporated, and Bull Mountain voters turned down annexation in 2004 by a wide margin. On the county side of the line, Washington County publishes the bulky rates: a $16 pickup fee, then $40.37 for a couch or a king mattress, $27.95 for any other mattress, $42.50 for a fridge and $10.35 for a TV, with extra labor billed in 5 minute blocks when access is awkward.
That is where the hauler stops: at the curb, one item at a time, on their schedule. We start inside the house.
What Tigard homes hand us
Bull Mountain. Mostly 1990s to 2010s subdivisions climbing the slope, with big garages, steep driveways and HOAs that do not love a pile at the curb. A lot of the calls are move-out loads: play sets, trampolines, patio sets, and the hot tub that came with the house.
Summerlake. Mostly 1970s and 80s houses around Summer Lake Park, often the same family for decades. Downsizing jobs: the treadmill, the second fridge, the boxes that moved in and never moved out.
Metzger. Postwar ranches on generous lots with mature trees, often a detached garage or a shed out back. Estate clears and long-tenure cleanouts, where most of the work is carrying.
Downtown and the Triangle. Main Street storefronts and newer apartments near the transit center. Tenant turnover, small loads, nowhere to stage anything. We load straight from the door.
The city line runs through the middle of everything
Tigard’s boundary is ragged. The city has annexed pieces of Bull Mountain over the years, so one side of a street can be city and the other county, with different haulers and different bulky rates.
For us it does not matter.
Downtown, Main Street and Burnham are 2 hour parking zones. We do not park, we load and leave.
Where the load goes
Nearly everything from Tigard goes to Metro South Station in Oregon City. Metro charges $176.70 per ton with a $51 minimum, and that cost is built into our truck prices.
Some things are free there, and we pass that on. Metro South is an Oregon E-Cycles site: TVs, monitors, laptops and printers are taken at no charge, up to 7 items a day, which is why a TV added to another item is $49 instead of $89. Metro’s free mattress and box spring drop-off, up to 4 a day, is at Metro Central in Portland, and we pass that on too. Fridges and freezers are limited to 5 a day, and coolant handling is in our fridge price.
What we will not carry is hazardous waste: paint, solvents, pesticides, propane. Metro South has a household hazardous waste facility for those, free for households. Everything else on a Tigard job is on the truck. See what we take for the full list.
What it costs in Tigard
Prices are by truck volume and identical in every city we serve, so a Tigard job costs the same as one in Beaverton or Lake Oswego. Tigard is about 25 minutes from the yard and that changes nothing on the invoice. The whole ladder is on the pricing page.
Tigard questions
Is my address inside Tigard, and does it change your price? The city’s service area map will tell you. Our price is the same either side of the line.
Can you get a truck up a Bull Mountain driveway? Usually, yes. If the driveway is too steep or too tight we park at the street and carry, and the only extra is $25 for a carry over 100 feet.
Do TVs and mattresses cost extra in Tigard? A TV added to another item is $49, and a mattress is $99 with the second piece at $30. Metro takes TVs free at Metro South and mattresses free at Metro Central, within daily limits, which is why those numbers stay low.
How fast can you get to Tigard? Often the same day. We run 2 hour arrival windows Monday through Saturday, 7am to 8pm, and Sunday by request. Text a photo of the pile to (360) 702-7327 and we will size the truck before you book.
