The city takes a barbecue, not a couch
Camas has been an incorporated city since 1906, and inside city limits garbage and recycling service is compulsory, so every house already has carts at the curb. What it takes beyond the cart is a short list.
The 2026 fee schedule prices four extra items the city will collect for a charge: a barbecue for $29, a bicycle for $15, a table for $32, and a Christmas tree no taller than 5 feet for $15. You call the Finance Department at 360-834-2462 and it goes out on your next pickup day. The city FAQ says other large items are quoted by size and weight, but the city’s own 2026 sanitation calendar says it does not take kitchen appliances, TVs, couches, mattresses or other large items at all.
So a Camas household with a fridge, a sectional or a mattress has two choices: a trailer to Washougal, or a hauler. We are the second one. We come to the garage, the basement or the back deck, and nothing has to reach the curb first. If it is on the what we take list, it goes.
What Camas homes hand us
Downtown, the blocks around 4th Avenue and Crown Park are mostly older houses, a lot of them from the mill’s first decades, with basements, detached garages and small lots. Estate clearouts here tend to be dense: decades of tools, canning jars, and furniture that went down the basement stairs once and never came back up. Stairs beyond the first flight add $25 a flight, and we say so before we start.
Prune Hill is mostly larger homes from the 1990s onward, many inside an HOA, with three-car garages that fill with whatever three cars would otherwise displace. Moves and post-remodel garage resets are the common calls.
Around Lacamas Lake the lots are generally bigger and the houses more custom, so the jobs run to decks, hot tubs, patio sets and boat gear that have reached the end. Camas more than doubled in population between 2000 and 2020. Grass Valley is mostly newer construction, a mix of detached homes and townhomes, and jobs there are often the first cleanout after a family has been in the house a few years: the moving boxes that never got unpacked, the old couch the new one replaced.
Steep driveways and two-hour parking
Prune Hill is an old volcanic vent, and the streets on it climb. A 16 cubic yard truck backs up a steep driveway fine when it is dry; in a wet week we may park at the street and carry, and a carry over 100 feet from the truck is $25 for the job. We tell you which when you send photos.
Downtown is the opposite problem. Most street parking there is free for 2 hours and the ticket is $30, so we load from the alley or the driveway where there is one and keep the truck moving. A house with no off-street parking is still a normal job; the planning is on our end.
Where it goes and what it costs
Camas loads go to the Washougal Transfer Station, run by Columbia Resource Company, a short run east. Disposal there is $118.65 a ton plus a $10 transaction fee, and a fridge or freezer carries a $24.91 handling charge, which is why our fridge price has the coolant fee built in. TVs and monitors cost nothing at the station, and E-Cycle Washington takes TVs, monitors and computers free at collection sites across the state, so we do not add anything for electronics.

Camas questions
Will the city pick up my old couch or fridge? No. The city’s 2026 fee schedule prices a barbecue, a bicycle, a table and a Christmas tree, and its 2026 calendar says appliances, TVs, couches and mattresses are not collected.
Do you go up Prune Hill? Yes, every part of Camas, with no travel fee. Send photos of the driveway and the items to (360) 702-7327 and we will tell you whether we back up or carry.
Can you come today? When a 2-hour window is still open today, yes. The booking calendar shows today’s windows live, and we need 2 hours of lead time. Otherwise it is the next open window Monday through Saturday, and Sunday by request.
Can you take a hot tub along with the rest of the deck? Yes. A freestanding tub starts at $349 and one built into a deck starts at $499, and whatever else is coming off the deck rides on the same truck.
