What we usually find when we arrive
Most mattress pickups in Vancouver, WA and Portland, OR start the same way. A new bed got delivered, the delivery crew did not take the old mattress, and now a queen or king and its box spring are leaning against the garage wall. Or a twin the kids outgrew, or a memory foam that will not roll back into its box.
The house shapes the job more than the mattress. Split-levels in Clark County put the bedrooms up one flight with a turn at the landing; older Portland bungalows have narrow stairwells and a front door a king will not clear flat.
What it costs
Booked online, the first mattress or box spring is $99 and a second piece, box spring or mattress, is $30.
When the frame and the rest of the furniture come too, the truck price takes over. A frame, a headboard, a dresser and the mattress together are a quarter truck at $189. Past that the ladder runs a half truck at $369, three quarters at $549 and a full 16 cubic yard truck at $739.
We decide the size standing in front of the pile, before anything is loaded. You hear the number first and can stop there with nothing owed. Each is $25, per flight for stairs and per job for the rest. The price list has every line.
How the visit goes
We bring the truck, straps and a mattress bag if you asked for one. Strip the sheets and clear a path from the bed to the door. Leave the old mattress in the garage or at the curb and you do not have to be home; we photograph the load for the invoice.
We do not need you for the stairs, the door or the loading, and you do not need a dumpster or a roof rack. Pick a 2-hour window at /book/ and we haul it away inside it.
Where it goes
The ZIP decides the route, and the two states differ.
In Clark County the load goes to Central Transfer and Recycling, or to the Washougal Transfer Station for Camas and Washougal jobs. A TV or monitor riding along is accepted at the station at no charge under E-Cycle Washington.
In Oregon we run to Metro Central Station from Portland and Beaverton, or Metro South Station from Gresham, Milwaukie and Oregon City. Mattresses and box springs go to Metro Central free, up to 4 per trip, and we pass that on. Electronics also go in free, up to 7 per trip under Oregon E-Cycles.
Before any station, a clean frame or headboard goes to a donation partner if one will take it. A used mattress rarely qualifies; in Oregon the free Metro program is its first stop, and in Washington it goes by weight unless a recycler will take it.
How it differs from the neighboring services
Furniture removal covers the rest of the bedroom by the piece or by the truck; if the mattress is leaving with the bed, book here and list the frame in the notes. Appliance removal is a fridge or washer priced by the item, so a mattress and a fridge in one trip is two item prices. TV and electronics recycling handles a TV, monitor or computer, and one can ride along with a mattress as an added item. Hot tub removal is priced by the tub, from $349 freestanding and from $499 in-deck or cut in place.
Before you book
Can you take a mattress from an upstairs bedroom? Yes. One flight is included. Past that, the stair and elevator surcharges above apply.
Is a king or a memory foam more? No. A king costs what a twin costs, foam or springs.
Can you come the day the new bed is delivered? If the calendar shows a window that day, book it. Otherwise the two visits do not have to line up; see the garage note above.
