Gresham prices bulky pickup by the item, and that is where it stops

Gresham has been a city since 1905, and inside the city limits the city sets what the garbage haulers charge. The city sets the rates and standards for five haulers, and Metro’s find-your-hauler lookup tells you which one serves your address.

The bulky item rate sheet is public. A pickup costs $18 per trip plus a price per item: $12 for small, $16 for medium, $29 for large and $42 for anything up to 250 pounds. Past 250 pounds the hauler adds the Metro tip fee. You call your own hauler to set it up, on their schedule.

That works for one couch at the curb. It stops working when the list gets long, when a piece is heavy, or when the job is a garage, a rental turnover or a house that has to be emptied. Nothing on the sheet covers the carrying, the sorting or the trip to the station. That part is us.

One wrinkle: a Gresham mailing address is not always a Gresham city address. Some homes past the city limits are unincorporated Multnomah County, with county-licensed haulers and no city rate sheet. Our price does not change either way.

What comes out of Gresham homes

Rockwood. A lot of Rockwood is rental housing, much of it in small apartment complexes from the 1960s and 1970s. Our work here is move-outs, furniture left behind and property managers turning a unit around. The city’s own guidance for renters is to ask the manager where large items go, and the manager ends up needing a truck. Second-floor walk-ups and tight lots are common.

Powell Valley. Mostly single-family homes built from the 1970s through the 1990s, three and four bedrooms, owners and renters mixed. Twenty-year garages, a shed that turned into storage, deck furniture that did not survive the winter.

Downtown. A lot of older houses on the grid around Main Avenue, and apartments over the storefronts. The city’s parking study found that 93.6 percent of downtown on-street stalls have no time limit and the public lots are free, so we can put the truck at your door and work from there.

The Butte is its own kind of job

Gresham Butte is hillside. When the fire department briefed the neighborhood association in December 2025, it listed steep slopes, limited access routes and bridge weight limits as the things that complicate getting a truck up there. The same list applies to us.

Homes are mostly mid-1970s to early 1990s bi-levels and ranches, often on bigger lots, with a lower level that fills up. We bring the truck as close as the road allows and carry the rest. If the carry runs past 100 feet or the stairs past one flight, we tell you the add-on before we come, not after.

Where a Gresham load goes

Gresham garbage goes to Metro South in Oregon City. Metro runs it: $51 minimum per load, then $176.70 a ton.

Clean yard debris on its own is $56 a ton at the same gate, so when a job has branches or leaves along with the rest, we keep them separate on the truck. Mixed loads pay the garbage rate.

Metro takes up to 7 electronics per person per day free through Oregon E-Cycles, and up to 4 mattresses or box springs per customer per day free at its Central station. We pass both allowances on: no disposal surcharge from us on that many TVs, monitors, computers or mattresses in one trip. Fridge and freezer coolant is included in the appliance price. Tires and construction debris carry their own fees, listed on the pricing page.

Gresham questions

Is it cheaper to have my hauler take one couch? Usually yes: the trip fee plus the large item rate is under our minimum, and if you can wait for their schedule, use it. We make sense once there is more than a couple of items, or the items are inside.

Do you come to addresses outside the city limits? Yes. If your Gresham address is unincorporated county, your hauler differs but our price does not.

How soon can you get to Gresham? Often the same day. We work Monday to Saturday, 7am to 8pm, in 2-hour arrival windows, with Sunday by request, and booking online shows what is open.

What do I do about a steep driveway on the Butte? Send a photo of the drive and the pile to (360) 702-7327. We size the truck and the carry before we leave the yard.
