Electronics and e-waste removal in Vancouver, WA and Portland, OR

$89

Washington bans televisions, monitors and computers from the landfill, so these never ride to the transfer station with the rest of the load. They go to a certified recycler through E-Cycle Washington or Oregon E-Cycles.

What we usually walk into

Most electronics calls are one of three jobs. A flat screen that died and has been leaning in the garage since the replacement went up. A tube TV in a 1970s ranch or a 1990s split-level, still in its oak cabinet, too heavy for the people who bought the house to move. Or a closet of old computers, two monitors and a printer that jams, cleared out during a move.

What it costs

A TV or monitor is $89 online when it is the only thing we pick up. When it goes out with any other item, a couch, a mattress, a garage load, it is $49. The phone price is $20 higher.

A pile of electronics prices by volume instead. A tower, two monitors and a printer are usually a minimum pickup, 2 cubic yards, $99 online or $119 by phone. A home office is more often a quarter truck at $189 online, $209 by phone, and office loads run up the same ladder to a full 16 cubic yard truck at $739 online, $759 by phone. The whole ladder is on the pricing page; book online for the lower price.

We decide the size on site, before anything goes in the truck, and you agree to it before we load. For electronics, volume moves a job up a tier, not weight.

How the visit goes

We bring the dolly, straps and the tools to get a TV off a wall mount or a cabinet apart. Unplug everything before we arrive. You do not have to be home; leave the gate open and we send before and after photos with the invoice.

You are not needed for the lifting, the mount or the cables. We unbolt the bracket, carry the set down and sweep out behind where it stood. Windows are 2 hours, and we call when we are about 30 minutes out.

Where it goes

Washington. TVs, monitors, computers and laptops from Clark County are dropped through E-Cycle Washington at no charge. Printers, cabling, UPS units and anything else on the same stop go to Central Transfer and Recycling, or the Washougal Transfer Station for Camas and Washougal, both run by Columbia Resource Company at $118.65 a ton with a $10 minimum. Those fees are inside the price.

Oregon. Metro takes electronics free under Oregon E-Cycles, and we pass that on. Portland, Beaverton and Hillsboro loads go through Metro Central Station; Gresham, Tigard and Clackamas County go through Metro South. The rest of a mixed load pays Metro’s $176.70 a ton with a $51 minimum, also inside the price.

Anything that still powers on, a working laptop, a console, a flat screen with a good panel, is offered to a donation partner first, with a receipt when the partner issues one.

How this differs from nearby services

Furniture removal is by the piece, a couch at $119, and a TV riding with it is the $49 add-on. Mattress removal is $99 for the first piece and $30 for the second, and in Oregon Metro takes up to 4 mattresses a trip free. Appliance removal is metal that scraps: $99 for a washer, dryer, dishwasher or range, $129 for a fridge or freezer with the coolant fee included. Hot tub removal starts at $349 freestanding or $499 cut in place, and fills a truck on its own.

Before you book

Can you get the TV off the wall mount? Yes. We unbolt it, lift it down and take the bracket too if you want it gone.

Do you take old tube TVs and rear-projection sets? Yes, at the same $89. Tell us at booking if it is upstairs or built into a cabinet.

Is there a limit on the free drop in Oregon? Metro’s free drop covers 7 electronics per trip. More than that prices by the truck like any other load; see office cleanouts.

What we take

  • Televisions and monitors of any size
  • Desktops, laptops and tablets
  • Printers, scanners and copiers
  • Servers, switches, cabling and UPS units
  • Stereo, gaming and small office electronics

Something else in the pile? See everything we take.

What we do not

  • Hard drives you need certified destroyed; we can refer a shredder
  • Loose lithium batteries, which have to go to a battery drop-off separately

Price

TV or monitor $89, or $49 when it goes out with another item. Office and bulk loads price by the truck. Full price list.

Questions

Why is there a charge if recycling is free?

The recycling itself is free in both states. The $89 pays for the trip, the lift and the drive to the recycler rather than the nearest station. Add a second piece to any other job for $49.

What happens to the data on it?

Certified recyclers shred the boards, but we do not certify that to you. If the data matters, pull the drive first or let us refer a shredding company that issues a certificate.
