Garage and storage cleanouts in Vancouver, WA and Portland, OR

What we usually find

A garage cleanout is rarely one pile. It is a two-bay attached garage in a Salmon Creek or Happy Valley subdivision where the car has not fit for years, a detached single behind a Portland bungalow, or a pole barn on acreage outside Battle Ground. A storage unit cleanout is the same job in a smaller box, a 10 by 10 packed to the door with totes and furniture.

What it costs

The half truck, $369 online or $389 by phone, covers most single garages. The quarter truck, $189 online or $209 by phone, covers a storage unit or one corner. A double garage with the attic above it runs to a 3/4 truck at $549 or a full 16 cubic yard truck at $739.

We look at the pile on site, name the tier, and you agree to it before anything goes on the truck. It never goes above the top of the range you were shown unless you add items. If it is more than one truck we say so before loading. A double garage plus attic sometimes runs past the full truck at $739; the second load is priced on the same ladder.

What pushes a job up a tier is volume, not weight: shelving that comes apart into a stack of lumber, a second bay, an attic, or the shed. Tires are $15 each. Drywall and remodel scraps count as construction debris at $50 per quarter truck on top of the truck price. Concrete, dirt, tile and brick are quoted by weight. How the visit goes

We bring the truck, a hand truck, bins for the loose stuff and a broom. Say what stays and what to set aside, in person or in a text before we arrive. You do not have to be there. Leave the door up or the code with us and we send photos with the invoice.

We carry from wherever the pile is, load from the back wall forward, break down shelving and workbenches, split what can be donated from what is scrap, and sweep before the door comes down. Anything screwed to the wall or floor comes down and goes on the truck; a framed-in loft or wall is teardown work, see deck, fence, shed and flooring teardown. A carport or bay within 100 ft of the truck is inside the price; further is $25 per job.

Where it goes

Donation first, recycling second, the transfer station last. What a thrift store will take goes there first. Metal shelving, bike frames and tool bodies go to scrap.

Camas and Washougal loads go to the Washougal Transfer Station at the same rate. TVs and monitors drop free under WA E-Cycle.

Metro takes mattresses up to 4 per trip and electronics up to 7 per trip free, and we pass that on.

Not the same as

Residential junk removal is a pile: a couch, one room. A garage cleanout is a space, floor to rafters, sorted and cleared. Estate cleanouts go room by room through a whole house, photographed, with donation receipts; if the garage is one part of that, book the estate cleanout and we fold it in. Hoarding cleanouts are for when the paths are blocked and the garage is one room of a bigger situation; that gets a slower pace, more trucks, and an unmarked truck if you ask.
