What we usually find

Most hot tub removal calls we get are for a tub nobody has used in a few winters. It sits on a cedar deck off the back slider of a 1990s house in Salmon Creek or Happy Valley, or on a pad beside the carport of a Hazel Dell ranch, cover waterlogged, wasps in the equipment bay.

About half are sunk into the deck framing and cannot be walked out; Bull Mountain decks in Tigard are the usual case. Sellwood bungalows have the other problem: a spa behind a narrow gate. Jacuzzi, Hot Spring, whatever the badge says, the price depends on the path out, not the brand.

What it costs

Hot tub removal cost comes down to one question, decided at the tub before the first cut: can it be walked out whole? On a pad with a clear path to the truck, it is freestanding, from $349. Deck built around it, or a side path too tight for a whole shell, it is cut in place, from $499.

What pushes a job above the from price: an 8 person tub or a swim spa, a roof built over it, stairs beyond one flight at $25 per flight, and a carry over 100 ft from the truck at $25. You hear the final number before we start, by text if you are not there; the full ladder is on the pricing page.

How the visit goes

We bring the saw, blades, tarps for the deck boards and a dolly. You unlock the gate and clear the path.

You do not need to stand there, or be home at all once the gate is open. Cover, lift and steps come off first, then the skirt, the shell in sections, then the frame and equipment. Deck boards we lift go back down. You get photos with the invoice.

Where it goes

A hot tub is an acrylic shell, foam, a wood or composite frame, and a pump and heater. None of it takes a free drop, so hot tub disposal is by weight as bulky waste. The pump, heater and equipment-bay metal go to scrap. Cover lifts and steps in good shape go to donation.

Hot tubs versus the pieces around them

A tub is the one thing we take apart before we carry it, so it has its own price. Furniture removal is by the piece, carried out whole. Mattress removal is $99 for the first piece and takes the free Metro drop in Oregon. Appliance removal covers the fridge and the drained water heater; a spa pump is part of the tub, not an appliance. TV and electronics recycling is $49 for a TV that leaves with the tub, and it goes to a certified recycler, not the transfer station. A deck coming out with the tub is a deck teardown, priced by the truck.

Gates, decks and what you keep

Will the pieces fit through a standard gate? Yes. We cut the shell into sections that go through a 36 inch gate.

Can you take the deck with it? Yes, as long as it is not holding a roof up. Say so when you book so we plan a longer window.

Can I keep the pump or the cover? Yes. Tell us before we start and we set them aside.
