Curbside bulky pickup here runs one day a week
Washougal is an incorporated city, since November 1908, and garbage inside the city is collected by Waste Connections. That service includes bulky item pickup, a real option for one couch or one mattress.
Bulky items go out on Thursdays only, booked up to a week ahead: a sofa is $33.65 and a twin through queen mattress is $25.24. Appliances are a separate line, scheduled up to two weeks ahead: a washer or dryer is $33.65, a fridge or freezer is $67.30. Bags of garbage do not qualify.
Where it stops is the curb. The driver takes what is at the street on Thursday morning, and nothing from the garage, the basement or a remodel. If the pile is bigger than a few items, or you do not want it on the parkway for a week, that is where we start.
Code Care Washougal, a city pilot, gives income-qualified households one disposal voucher per calendar year at the Washougal Transfer Station for household garbage and bulky furniture, but not electronics, tires or anything with refrigerant. If it will not cover the load, book a pickup.
The dump is in town, and takes garbage three days a week
Washougal has its own transfer station, at 4020 S Grant Street, run by Columbia Resource Company, and it is where we tip most Washougal loads. The Washougal Transfer Station takes garbage on Wednesday and Friday from 7am to 5pm and Saturday from 8am to 4pm. Other weekdays the gate is open for recycling only.
Self-haul math is a $10 transaction fee plus $118.65 a ton, and $24.91 extra for a fridge. TVs and monitors are free there on public days, and free at any WA E-Cycle site, which is why we do not surcharge them. For a garage that needs three trips in a truck you do not own, the math stops working, and none of those trips can happen on a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Sunday. We deal with the station’s calendar ourselves.
What Washougal homes actually hand us
Downtown, around Main Street and the Pendleton mill, is the oldest housing in the city: a lot of small mill-era bungalows on small lots, and a lot of it rented. Tenant turnover is the common job. Streets are narrow, so we park where the truck fits and carry.
Hathaway is mostly three and four bedroom homes from the 1970s through the 1990s, plus newer builds, and most of it is owner-occupied. Thirty years in one house often means a garage that has not held a car in a decade, and a half or three-quarter truck job.
Gibbons Creek, on the east side near the refuge, is two different jobs. Up the slope, newer custom homes and remodel debris. Down by Addy Street is Gibbons Creek Mobile Estates, a manufactured home community built in 1979, where lanes are tight and sheds are small, so a single item or a quarter truck is the usual call.
Out Washougal River Road the lots get bigger, with a shop, a barn or both. Those are the biggest loads with a Washougal address: decades of equipment, fencing, tires, and an outbuilding someone else filled.
Newer subdivisions on the north side mostly have HOAs, and the city launched an HOA registry in 2024. A couch at the curb for a week gets a letter, so we load from the garage.
Price is by the truck, not by the town
We work Monday through Saturday, 7am to 8pm, Sunday by request, with a 2-hour arrival window. The full ladder, single item prices and surcharges are on the pricing page.
Washougal questions
Is Washougal a city or part of the county? It is an incorporated city, since 1908, and the southernmost one in Washington. Inside or outside the city line, our price is the same.
Can you do a job the same day? Often, yes. Text a photo to (360) 702-7327 and we will tell you the truck size and the earliest slot.
Do you take yard debris and brush? Yes. Keep it clean, no dirt, rock or sod, and it goes on its own line of the price list rather than into the mixed load.
What about a hot tub or a shed? Both. A freestanding hot tub is a single item price; cut in place or set into a deck costs more. Sheds we tear down and haul in one visit. See what we take for the full list.
